syntropy

Syntropy meaning the drive of life and complexity.
Here at PermaDynamics we have applied Syntropic principles to the climate, plant species and soil conditions of New Zealand.   We have successfully transformed a steep slope of hard clay smothered in Kikuyu into an abundant food forest that feeds our family and the local community at the Whangarei Growers Market.  We applied succession dynamic to create an optimal fertile soil for our food forest to thrive. With no artificial fertilizers, chemicals, plastic, cardboard or hand weeding we have banished Kikuyu and turned hard orange clay into meter deep top soil.  Here at Permadynamics we have over 200 species working together in syntropy creating a highly diverse and disease resistant food forest, whilst providing a viable income stream, it also creates a haven for our precious native birds and insects.

With over 30 years of experience, the knowledge gained over in South America,  Germany and now New Zealand, Klaus has consulted and guided framers (anywhere from a commercial or back yard level) across the country, how to use succession dynamic to transform land to its fullest potential, in a natural and harmonious way.

What is Syntropic farming?
Syntropy, also known as ‘dynamic agroforestry’ is an advanced technique of creating commercial food forests that was developed by Ernst Goetsch in the 80’s.
Ernst Goetsch has come up with his unique approach after extremely hard hands-on study on a heavily abused, extremely poor soil, returning 250ha of burnt amazonian land back to an abundant food forest, boosting local communities economy, lifestyle and creating a haven for near extinct wildlife.
Klaus Lotz has had the great fortune of helping him start this project against the odds and work again with him later on various stages of the project. The progress from a hostile weed vegetation to a highly productive food forest, (Abundance System) yielding some of the world’s best cocoa whilst bringing back wildlife and endangered mammals all around the farm. All of this was achieved with no mechanization and no external inputs.
