What is Biodynamics?
Biodynamics is a way of organic farming founded on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. Biodynamics rethinks conventional approaches to land management, soil fertility, animal care, to produce the highest quality food and a harmonious, balanced farm ecosystem.
Why do people support Biodynamics?
Biodynamics is an approach to managing a farm, vineyard, orchard or garden as a living organism. Every element actively interacts with one another, where an output of one element acts as an input for another. In this way, the farm functions as a whole with very little carbon footprint or waste.
How does Biodynamics help the soil?
In Bio Dynamics, soil is a highly respected foundation, and compost is the heart of the farm. Great care is taken to ensure the health of the soil is foremost. This is carefully maintained through the grower's observation and regular soil tests.
No harmful chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, drenches and antibiotics are ever used. We use Biodynamic herbal preparations, and a well designed system of interacting elements to achieve abundance to feed our local community physically, and spiritually for generations
How does Permaculture relate to Biodynamics?
Here at PermaDynamics, we marry permaculture and biodynamics because they both originate from foundational principles of reducing external inputs by creating a holistic self supporting system. Permaculture offers strategies to insure a creative cycle between elements so no waste occurs. Biodynamics supplies a deep understanding of soil fertility, enhances the subtle energies of the farm with the use of Steiner's preparations and peacefully harbors the intrinsic nature of all the animals on our farm.
